Essential Safety Precautions

  • Seek Safe Shelter: Always seek shelter indoors, preferably within a sturdy building or an enclosed vehicle. Avoid standing in open areas or under trees during thunderstorms.
  • Avoid Open Spaces: Refrain from being in open areas such as paddy fields, tea plantations, playgrounds, and large water bodies like lakes or reservoirs when thunderstorms are active.
  • Disconnect Electronics: Avoid using wired telephones and any electrical appliances that are connected to power outlets during a thunderstorm.
  • Do Not Use Open Vehicles: Steer clear of using open vehicles such as bicycles, tractors, and boats during adverse weather conditions.
  • Beware of Falling Debris: Be vigilant for fallen trees and power lines, as strong winds can cause these to collapse, posing significant danger.
  • Emergency Assistance: In case of an emergency, immediately contact your local disaster management authorities for assistance.

The ‘Amber’ color code signifies an ‘Advisory’ status, indicating that the public should “Be Prepared” for potential impacts. This is a crucial warning level designed to encourage proactive safety measures.
