Sri Lanka Stock Market Experiences Decline During Midday Trading Session

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange opened down on Monday and remained in the red throughout midday trading, with capital goods pushing turnover.

The All Share Price Index was down 1.53 percent, or 315.98 points, at 20,323.75.

The S&P SL20 was down 1.44 percent, or 82.74 points, at 5,669.45.

Turnover was recorded at 1.1 billion rupees.

As of 11:16 AM on Monday, Brent futures were trading at 112 dollars a barrel.

John Keells Holdings (down 1.64 percent at Rs.18.00), Sampath Bank (down 1.49 percent at Rs.149.25), Hayleys (down 1.20 percent at Rs.205.00), and Central Finance Company (down 1.84 percent at Rs.213.00) were the top negative contributors to the ASPI.
