The 8th edition of the LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2026 concluded on a high note, with Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC clinching the Overall Gold Award for ‘Excellence in Digital Payments’ under the Banks category. Organized by LankaPay – Sri Lanka’s National Payment Network, the awards ceremony was held on 24th March 2026 at the Lumina Ballroom, Cinnamon Life Colombo. Bank of Ceylon secured the Overall Silver Award, while Hatton National Bank PLC claimed the Overall Bronze Award. Seylan Bank PLC was recognized with the Overall Merit Award in the same category.
In the Non-Bank Financial Institutions category, LOLC Finance PLC continued its dominance by winning the Overall Gold Award for the seventh consecutive year, while LB Finance PLC secured the Overall Silver Award. In the FinTech category, Dinnovation (Pvt) Limited clinched the Overall Gold Award, while MegaPay (Pvt) Limited was recognized with the Overall Merit Award.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka as Chief Guest, along with Hon. Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, and Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy, as Guests of Honour. Mr. Joseph McGuire, Head of Digital Labs APAC for Mastercard made the keynote address for the audience of over 600 industry leaders, including the chairmen and CEOs of banks, key policymakers, senior officials from the Central Bank and government institutions, as well as representatives from diplomatic missions and global payment networks.
Launched in 2017, the LankaPay Technnovation Awards is Sri Lanka’s first and only award ceremony dedicated to the financial sector. The initiative honours financial institutions, FinTechs, and government institutions that have expanded access to financial services across Sri Lanka through innovation, delivering secure and convenient digital payment solutions from urban centers to the most remote parts of the country.
Altogether, 56 awards under 12 categories were awarded at this year’s event. The Gold Award winners were:
- Best Bank for Excellence in Customer Convenience – Category A: Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC; Category B: Seylan Bank PLC; Category C: Pan Asia Banking Corporation PLC
- Non-Bank Financial Institution for Excellence in Customer Convenience – LB Finance PLC
- Best Bank for Financial Inclusivity – Category A: Bank of Ceylon; Category B: Seylan Bank PLC; Category C: DFCC Bank PLC
- Best Non-Bank Financial Institution for Financial Inclusivity – LB Finance PLC
- Best FinTech Institution for Financial Inclusivity – MegaPay (Pvt) Ltd
- Most Innovative Financial Institute of the Year – Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC
- Most Popular Digital Payment Solution (Large Bank Category) – People’s Bank (Product: People’s Pay)
