Sri Lanka and Russia Strengthen Collaborative Ties During Inter-Ministerial Discussions

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Andrey Rudenko, is currently visiting Sri Lanka, where discussions have taken place regarding various bilateral, regional, and global matters. These talks occurred during the 11th round of inter-ministerial consultations held in Colombo on April 2.

According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both nations reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining ongoing political discussions, enhancing mutually advantageous cooperation across different sectors, and strengthening their collaboration on international platforms.

During the consultations on April 2, Rudenko engaged in dialogue with Sri Lanka’s First Deputy Foreign Minister, Aruni Ranaraja, focusing on significant topics related to their bilateral relations as well as broader regional and international concerns.

Additionally, Rudenko met with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath, where they addressed current dynamics in Russia-Sri Lanka relations and explored potential opportunities for future interactions at various levels.

In a further meeting with experts at the Pathfinder Foundation think tank, Rudenko participated in discussions regarding urgent international issues, contributing to a broader understanding of global challenges. (Colombo/Apr 4/2026)
