HNB PLC has made a significant contribution of Rs. 100 million to the Rebuild Sri Lanka Fund, underlining its dedication to the nation’s recovery following the damage inflicted by Cyclone Ditwah.

“On behalf of HNB, I wish to express our solidarity with all Sri Lankans, particularly those severely affected by Cyclone Ditwah. As a home-grown institution, our ties to the communities we serve are profound. Many of our customers and colleagues have been directly or indirectly impacted, and we are committed to supporting them during this challenging time and aiding them in their rebuilding efforts,” stated HNB Managing Director/CEO, Damith Pallewatte.

“HNB’s contribution to the Rebuild Sri Lanka Fund signifies our commitment to this collective mission. We understand that this will be a long and challenging process, but we are prepared and committed to supporting both the immediate and long-term recovery efforts,” he further added.

In addition to its financial support to the Fund, HNB has initiated a nationwide disaster relief program as the first phase of a broader, coordinated response from the bank.

As part of this initiative, the bank has donated over 2,500 essential relief and nutrition packages to assist displaced families. These packages were formally handed over to the Sri Lanka Army to ensure structured, transparent, and equitable distribution in the affected areas of Kandy, Gampaha, Kaduwela, and Hanwella. Additional packages were provided to affected employees to bolster their personal recovery.

The relief packages include carefully selected nutrition items, personal care products, and essential household necessities designed to stabilize daily living conditions for affected families. Concurrently, dedicated assistance was extended to all HNB employees impacted by the disaster.
