Sri Lanka seeks China support to repair cyclone hit railway tracks

Sri Lanka has reached out to China for assistance in repairing railway tracks and bridges damaged by Cyclone Ditwah. This request was made during a meeting between the Chinese envoy in Colombo and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.

Ambassador Qi Zhenhong assured that he would promptly relay the request to the Chinese government, as stated in a release from the Foreign Minister’s media unit.

Furthermore, China plans to assess the additional damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah and will provide information on the support they can offer.

Minister Herath also appealed to China to consider establishing a network of charging points as a grant. Chinese electric brands are currently the leading sellers of electric vehicles in Sri Lanka.
