Link Natural Products (Pvt) Ltd. has forged a strategic partnership with Sampath Bank under the bank’s flagship Sampath Saviya Agri-Entrepreneurship Development Programme. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on November 26, 2025, aims to bolster village economies through sustainable and profit-driven agriculture.

The initiative’s initial phase will focus on transforming Kohombagaswewa and Ambulgaswewa into model agricultural hubs. These locations will specialize in cultivating high-value medicinal crops such as Katuwelbatu, Elabatu, and other varieties. As the project evolves, it intends to expand its reach to more rural areas, thereby amplifying its national impact.

Farmers involved in this collaboration will receive specialized training in crop management techniques. A significant feature of the initiative is the establishment of a buyback agreement by Link Natural, addressing the critical issue of limited access to reliable markets. This agreement guarantees participating farmers predictable and profitable income streams, thereby reducing financial uncertainty and encouraging sustainable crop cultivation.

Ashan Ransilige, CEO of Link Natural Products (Pvt) Ltd., remarked, “Our collaboration with Sampath Bank is driven by a shared vision of creating sustainable and profitable farming opportunities. By providing technical guidance and guaranteed market access, we aim to empower farmers to realize the full potential of their crops, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the growth of rural economies. Together, we are planting the seeds for a healthier, more prosperous future for Sri Lanka’s agricultural communities.”

Sampath Bank will play a crucial role in connecting farmers with Link Natural Products, overseeing project implementation, and facilitating communication with local farmers’ associations and community stakeholders. Both parties will jointly monitor the project’s progress through regular updates. The Agriculture Division of Link Natural Products will conduct field inspections and oversee cultivation to ensure quality and compliance with project activities. These efforts aim to uplift rural economies and promote youth engagement, women’s empowerment, and improved livelihoods in selected communities.

Dr. Lalith Weragoda, Chief Human Resource Transformation Officer of Sampath Bank, commented, “At Sampath Bank, we believe that sustainable agriculture is the backbone of rural prosperity. Through our partnership with Link Natural, we are empowering farmers with knowledge, skills, and reliable market access, enabling them to transform their villages into thriving agricultural hubs. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to creating lasting social and economic impact in Sri Lanka’s rural communities.”

In alignment with Sampath Bank’s goals, Link Natural will also collaborate closely with farming families to implement a sustainable medicinal perennial planting project. This project offers an additional avenue for long-term agricultural income while promoting environmental stewardship. Together, both organizations are laying the foundation for a new era of rural development, where knowledge, market access, and sustainable practices combine to create thriving farming communities in Sri Lanka.
