HNB PLC has initiated ‘Nana Savi Mehewara,’ a comprehensive national program aimed at supporting the educational needs of children affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

This initiative has established collection points at over 250 HNB branches throughout the country. These points enable employees, customers, individuals, institutions, and communities to provide support from anywhere in Sri Lanka, aiding in the revitalization of education across the island.

‘Nana Savi Mehewara’ is focused on delivering essential school supplies to children whose education has been disrupted due to cyclone-related displacement and loss. The initiative prioritizes books, stationery, and learning tools, aiming to ensure continuity in education at a time when stability and routine are crucial for young learners.

Emphasizing the importance of the bank’s extensive network, Supun Dias, Executive Vice President and Head of Network Business, remarked, “HNB’s islandwide branch network enables us to respond swiftly and effectively to national-level initiatives such as ‘Nana Savi Mehewara.’ Our widespread presence ensures accessibility for contributors while allowing support to be mobilized and channeled efficiently to communities in need. This initiative demonstrates how the strength of our network can be leveraged to create meaningful social impact across the country.”

Reflecting on the dedication of HNB’s workforce, K. Indravasan, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer, stated, “What makes this initiative truly special is the way our staff came together to lead from the front. Our employees voluntarily contributed a day’s pay to kickstart ‘Nana Savi Mehewara,’ reflecting the deep sense of compassion and unity that defines the Hatna family. We are immensely proud to have initiated this effort as one team, standing in solidarity with the communities we serve.”

Through ‘Nana Savi Mehewara,’ HNB reaffirms its commitment to nation-building by protecting education, empowering communities, and standing alongside Sri Lanka in its time of need.
