The Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, is set to arrive in Sri Lanka today, October 17. This visit aims to reaffirm the partnership between the UK and Sri Lanka, while also allowing the Deputy Prime Minister to observe the UK’s humanitarian response to Cyclone Ditwah in the region.

During his visit, Deputy Prime Minister Lammy is scheduled to meet with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Their discussions will focus on various topics, including economic cooperation, reconciliation, humanitarian priorities, and Sri Lanka’s involvement with the Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform. This global initiative seeks to strengthen family-based care and enhance child protection efforts.

Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Lammy will engage with humanitarian aid partners who are delivering UK support to communities impacted by Cyclone Ditwah. The cyclone, which struck late last year, resulted in widespread damage throughout the country.
