FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s cabinet has approved awarding a tender for building a power transmission line from Mannar to Mullikulam to JSL & Fentons Joint Venture – Intend (Jyoti Structure Limited, India, and Hayleys Fentons Limited, Sri Lanka), for 2,269.18 million rupees (excluding tax), Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
“They were selected as a contractor for the construction of a 28 km long 220 kV double circuit transmission line from Mannar grid substation to Mullikulam grid substation under the Mullikulam Wind Power Transmission Project,” he told reporters.
Five bids were submitted, he said, and the company was selected as the lowest responsive bidder.
Hayleys Fentons was previously awarded a 50 megawatt wind project in Mannar, one of three approved by the government before it announced that no more would be awarded in the region due to public protests.
