Kamal Munasinghe Appointed to Lead Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams

Kamal Munasinghe has been appointed as the General Manager of Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, with his new role taking effect on February 15. He will also continue his responsibilities as Senior Vice President of Colombo Hotels at Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, as announced by the company.

Munasinghe will oversee the strategic direction and daily operations of Cinnamon Life, South Asia’s first fully integrated resort. His leadership is expected to guide the resort through its next phase of growth, strengthening Colombo’s reputation as a premier destination for luxury hospitality, entertainment, and business.

With over 30 years of experience in both international and local hospitality sectors, Munasinghe has held significant leadership positions at prestigious hotel chains such as Marriott, Hyatt, and Mövenpick. Previously, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, where he enhanced guest experiences across the group’s 17 hotels and resorts in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

His past roles also include serving as Area Vice President – Colombo and General Manager of Cinnamon Grand Colombo, as well as the General Manager of Alila Bangsar Kuala Lumpur, a part of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Munasinghe’s professional journey, which spans countries like Switzerland, Malaysia, and Vietnam, equips him with a global perspective that informs his leadership style. He possesses a deep understanding of evolving traveler expectations and market dynamics. As a graduate of Schiller International University in Switzerland, he is recognized for his focus on innovation, agility, and strategic execution—qualities that will be crucial as Colombo continues to develop as a competitive urban destination.
