FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Commercial Bank won the Gold Award for “Excellence in Digital Payments” under the banks category at Sri Lanka’s LankaPay Technnovation Awards held on Tuesday.
Bank of Ceylon won the Silver, while Hatton National Bank secured the Bronze.
LOLC achieved its 7th consecutive Gold in the non-bank financial institutions category, with LB Finance being the runner-up.
In the FinTech category, Dinnovation won Gold, and MegaPay received the Merit Award.
A total of 56 awards were presented across 12 categories during the ceremony, celebrating a successful 2025 in financial services.
“The total value of transactions across all LankaPay systems was Rs.42 trillion. Real-time payments contributed Rs.23 trillion. Government revenue through the government digital platform was Rs.3.5 trillion,” Channa Silva, Chief Executive Officer of LankaPay, stated to an audience of over 600 industry leaders in his closing speech.
Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe served as the chief guest at the event. Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne and Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy Hans Wijayasuriya were also present.
