Never interrupt your enemy when they’re making a mistake” .. and this is the reason why China is staying silent on Iran.
Everyone is losing their minds and asking where Beijing is, while the United States and Israel are bombing a major Chinese energy partner? The answer is so brutal in its simplicity, that most analysts overlook it entirely: the empire is devouring itself and China is already building the replacement.
The United States just dragged the entire Middle East into a war for Israel and now Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar are sitting in a room, discussing withdrawing from U.S. contracts and canceling investment commitments.
The Gulf states, the literal foundation of the petrodollar, the system that has kept the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency since 1974, are actively discussing an exit and Beijing didn’t do absolutely anything to make that happen… Washington did it to itself.
But this is what people don’t see: China saw this coming years ago and had already laid the groundwork; literally, the Belt and Road Initiative has quietly connected 150 countries with Chinese infrastructure: ports, railways, highways, fiber optic cables, power grids… while Western media barely covered it.
Saudi Arabia began selling oil to China in Yuan in 2023, that alone should have been front-page news for a month, the BRICS just expanded to include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran in the same bloc, China built CIPS as a direct alternative to SWIFT so the entire non-Western world can settle trade without ever touching the dollar, each one of these moves was made before a single bomb fell on Iran.
And then there’s Africa… the youngest continent on Earth, with a median age of 19, projected to reach 2.5 billion people by 2050, the largest workforce the planet has ever seen and China understood 20 years ago that whoever builds Africa’s infrastructure owns the 21st century, while the United States spent 4 trillion dollars destroying Iraq and Afghanistan, China was building railways in Kenya, dams in Ethiopia, ports in Djibouti, roads in Nigeria, tech hubs in Rwanda, stadiums, hospitals, government buildings. Huawei-powered telecom networks across the continent… and they did it without firing a single bullet, without regime change, without sanctions, without lectures on democracy, just concrete, steel, fiber optics, and long-term contracts.
So when people ask why China is staying silent on Iran, the answer is that silence is the strategy; every war the United States fights for Israel costs trillions, destabilizes energy markets, alienates.
Gulf partners and pushes the entire Global South toward a system that Beijing spent two decades building.
The current shift in stance by the Gulf states has nothing to do with ideology. Washington turned their entire neighbourhood into a war zone to serve Tel Aviv’s regional strategy and then asked them with a straight face to keep buying Treasury bonds. the math simply stopped adding up and when the math stops adding up, loyalty stops too. Beijing’s silence on Iran is the most patient and devastating play on the board. China is watching the United States dismantle its own hegemony in real time while quietly inheriting every alliance that Washington burns. It just has to keep building and stay silent. Napoleon apparently said: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.” Xi turned that into a 50- year doctrine and right now it’s bearing fruit faster than even Beijing expected.
