Sri Lanka Insurance Life (SLIC Life) achieved a notable accolade at the ‘Great Managers Awards 2025’, which took place on March 26, 2026, at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo. This recognition marks a historic moment as SLIC Life becomes the first State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) to be honored in this manner.
The awards, organized by CLA Coaching in partnership with the Colombo Leadership Academy, aim to celebrate organizations and individuals that exemplify outstanding leadership and managerial skills. The evaluation process for these awards is rigorous and benchmarks participants against international best practices.
SLIC Life was awarded in the ‘Companies with Great Managers’ category, showcasing its dedication to fostering leadership skills and creating a culture aimed at sustainable performance and employee development.
In addition to the company’s recognition, several individuals from SLIC Life were acknowledged in various award categories, highlighting the organization’s strong leadership capabilities. Duminda Pieris, Assistant General Manager/Zonal Head, was awarded for Driving Results and Execution Excellence. Chaminda Athauda, Deputy General Manager – Life, was recognized for Aligning Organisational Vision. Jagath Welgama, Deputy General Manager – National Sales, and Manjula Darmaprema, Branch Manager – Pilimathalawa, received accolades for Building Team Effectiveness and Collaboration. Amali Gomez, Manager – Corporate & Marketing Communications, was honored for her Integrality and Holistic Approach. Additionally, Ruchira Edirisinghe, Brand Manager, and Uththara Kapugamage, Manager – Employee Engagement, were celebrated as Great Millennial Managers.
