Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has sanctioned a proposal to grant a contract for the acquisition of 75 new motor graders, amounting to 1,424.25 million rupees, to United Tractors and Equipment (Private) Limited, according to Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.

This purchase aims to enhance the government’s infrastructure development initiatives. The procurement process involved a competitive bidding procedure, with five bidders vying for the contract.

The overall cost of 1,424.25 million rupees excludes Value Added Tax (VAT). This approval follows an initial cabinet decision made on October 21, 2025, to move forward with obtaining heavy machinery to accelerate state-led construction projects.
