Sri Lanka rupee weaker, bond yields steady

Sri Lanka’s rupee continued to depreciate, opening at 309.75/80 against the US dollar in the spot market on Thursday, compared to 309.65/72 the previous day, according to dealers. Meanwhile, government bond yields remained broadly steady across various maturities.

  • The bond maturing on February 15, 2028, was quoted at 8.90/97 percent.
  • The bond maturing on October 15, 2029, was quoted at 9.45/48 percent.
  • The bond maturing on March 15, 2031, was quoted at 9.85/88 percent.
  • The bond maturing on October 1, 2032, remained unchanged at 10.20/25 percent.
  • The bond maturing on June 15, 2035, was quoted at 10.62/66 percent.

Telegraphic transfer rates for the US dollar were 306.0000 for buying and 313.0000 for selling. For the British pound, the rates were 407.9465 buying and 419.3083 selling. The euro was quoted at 356.9638 buying and 368.3270 selling.

On the Colombo Stock Exchange, indices showed an upward trend. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 0.26 percent, or 58.07 points, to reach 22,387. The S&P SL20 index increased by 0.35 percent, or 21.46 points, to 6,091.
