Sri Lanka’s CEB Officials Enhance Skills with Solar Training in India

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – A 30-member delegation from Sri Lanka’s power utility has visited India for a specialized training and capacity-building program in the solar energy sector, according to the High Commission of India in Colombo.

The two-week training program, conducted by India at the NTPC School of Business in Noida from March 9–21, was designed to equip Ceylon Electricity Board engineers with practical and contemporary insights into key aspects of the solar energy sector. This included photovoltaic (PV) technologies, energy storage systems, grid integration, project implementation, and performance monitoring.

The program also provided exposure to emerging and existing energy technologies in India through field visits to the Dadri Power Plant, which features thermal, gas, and solar power generation, as well as NETRA, NTPC’s research and development facility that includes a microgrid, battery energy storage system, and green hydrogen pilots.

“The program contributed meaningfully to strengthening professional competencies, promoting knowledge exchange, and deepening institutional and government-to-government linkages in the energy sector between India and Sri Lanka,” the High Commission stated.

India has committed to offering 700 customized training slots annually for Sri Lankan professionals.
