Sri Lanka received USD 729 million in workers’ remittances in February 2026, as reported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). This marks a significant increase from February 2025, when foreign remittances were recorded at USD 548.1 million. The year-over-year growth amounts to an increase of USD 180.9 million.

Despite this annual growth, there was a slight decline in remittances in February 2026 compared to January 2026, when the country received USD 751.1 million.

The Central Bank also highlighted that the total remittances from migrant workers for January and February 2026 reached USD 1.48 billion. This figure represents a 32 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
