Sri Lanka Surpasses $17.2 Billion in Export Performance for 2025

Sri Lanka’s export sector demonstrated continued positive growth in 2025, achieving a year-on-year increase of 5.6%. According to statistics from Sri Lanka Customs and estimated export figures for gems and jewellery, petroleum products, and services, total export earnings amounted to US$ 17,252.15 million for the year. This reflects sustained growth and improved external trade conditions.

In December 2025, the combined exports for merchandise and services totaled US$ 1,490.49 million, marking a 3.95% year-on-year rise. This performance highlights the resilience of Sri Lanka’s export sector, alongside the effectiveness of policy measures and strategic interventions aimed at expanding market access and enhancing global competitiveness.

Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Export Development Board (EDB), commented on this achievement, noting that Sri Lanka’s export earnings in 2025 reached US$ 17,252.15 million, achieving over 94.79% of the export target. He emphasized that this performance underscores the resilience and competitiveness of Sri Lanka’s export sector, bolstered by the recovery of key export markets, sustained production capacity, and the effective implementation of export development strategies.
