Officials from Sri Lanka and Vietnam convened this week to discuss enhancing cooperation in the health, trade, and tourism sectors, according to a government announcement. The discussions took place at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media and aimed at reinforcing the longstanding diplomatic ties between the two nations while exploring new opportunities for bilateral collaboration.

During a ministerial meeting on Tuesday with Nalinda Jayatissa, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Health and Mass Media, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Trinh Thi Tam, praised Sri Lanka’s recent advancements across various sectors. The ambassador expressed her satisfaction with the country’s progress in political, cultural, and economic arenas, according to a statement released by the Sri Lankan government.

Ambassador Tam highlighted the importance of “deepening bilateral relations based on mutual trust and shared development goals.” Minister Jayatissa reiterated Sri Lanka’s intention to “further strengthen political, diplomatic, and economic ties with Vietnam in the years ahead.”

The meeting also addressed ongoing development projects supported by Vietnam and potential future initiatives. Discussions focused on the health sector’s performance, the need for pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, and collaboration in agriculture and tourism. Both parties explored how Vietnam’s developmental successes might be adapted to benefit Sri Lanka.
