Sri Lankan Rupee Declines as Bond Yields Experience Slight Decrease

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted at 314.50/80 to the US dollar in the spot market on Friday, reflecting a decline from the previous day’s rate of 314.30/70, according to dealers. Meanwhile, bond yields experienced a slight decrease.

A bond maturing on June 15, 2029, was quoted at 9.70/80 percent. Another bond maturing on September 15, 2029, was quoted at 9.75/85 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on December 15, 2032, was quoted at 10.45/55 percent, while a bond maturing on June 1, 2033, remained flat at 10.85/95 percent.

The telegraphic transfer rates for the American dollar were 310.9500 for buying and 317.9500 for selling. The British pound was quoted at 413.8674 for buying and 425.1708 for selling, while the euro stood at 356.4410 for buying and 367.8604 for selling.

On the Colombo Stock Exchange, the All Share Price Index was trading down 0.78 percent, a decrease of 166.62 points, at 21,586.56. The S&P SL20 index also experienced a decline of 0.45 percent, or 27.31 points, bringing it to 6,062.83. (Colombo/Mar27/2026)
